Even though our souls are endless, timeless and boundless, we really only get one shot in this body and in this lifetime.

In order to make the most of our time here on earth, we must live to the fullest of our abilities. This requires us to not only get in touch with the purpose of our soul, but to also get in touch with the amazing potential that life offers.

When your soul decided to come down to Earth, it was super excited to experience all that life has to offer. It was excited to taste foods, explore countries, connect with others and was excited to make a difference.

Your soul was even excited to experience the amazing growth and transformation that often happens when your soul comes down to Earth in human form.

It is very easy to forget this and a lot of the time we move through life feeling a victim to our surroundings and trapped in the circumstances that have come our way. We may also feel limited, stuck and separated from our purpose or true calling.

This is also all part of the journey and in many ways, we have to feel this in way in order to understand the full spectrum of our life here on earth.

Myth #1: You Need to Know Your Purpose

Many people fall into the trap of getting wrapped up with finding their purpose. They spend weeks, months and even years trying to find what they were put on this earth to do. The real secret of this is that your purpose is not outside of you, it is inside you.

Your purpose flows through you and ultimately is you. Your purpose is to be authentic you, and the more you can start being true to yourself, the more you are going to be able to create and live a life of purpose.

When you start acting from a place of authenticity, you will also naturally find yourself drawn to things that you feel passionate about and things that you love to do. By connecting with yourself first and being true to yourself, everything else just falls into place.

Myth #2: You Need to Be Super Positive All the Time 

While being positive is a great mindset to have, it is a myth that you have to be this way all the time.

Seemingly negative emotions are natural, normal and a part of life. Just because you think negatively from time to time doesn’t mean you are bad or any less “spiritual”.

The trick is to not become attached to your thoughts, and this goes for both positive and negative thinking.

When you become attached to your thoughts and hold onto them, that is when they can become destructive. But simply having negative thoughts or feeling anger, rage, frustration and so on, is normal and healthy and should not be squashed.

It is more important that you express how you truly feel and learn how to cope with all types of emotions. This is far more beneficial than squashing negative thinking or trying to fake positive.

Having a positive mindset is definitely a great and productive way to move through life, but this doesn’t mean that you need to ignore the negative.

Myth #3: You Shouldn’t Want Money or Material Wealth 

On the spiritual journey it is common to feel that you shouldn’t want for things, especially material things or money.

The fact of the matter is, in order to get by on this planet we need money.

Money gives us a feeling of security and comfort and is necessary for our physical health and well being. Money also allows us to buy experiences and material items that can aid in our development or even bring pleasure.

Nothing is wrong with opening yourself to abundance and letting the Universe and others know what you need. Nothing is wrong with stating your worth and asking to be paid for your time or services.

The trick with this is learning how to develop a healthy relationship with money. Obsessing about money or being greedy is definitely not the vibration you want to live from, but opening yourself to abundance and knowing your worth is definitely going to help you.

Myth #4: You are Being Punished for your Bad Karma

Some people believe that while your soul is on Earth it has to be “punished” for all the bad or wrong things that occurred in previous lifetimes. Karma is often viewed as being the measure of the good and bad things your soul has done and how you are going to be treated because of it.

This may go against some people’s beliefs, but I do not believe that you are punished for your bad karma by having negative or bad things happen to you. I do not even believe that you inherit “bad” karma. We all have karma, but this karma is neither good or bad, it just is.

Karma is simply the cause and effect energy that emanates from everything that you do and everything that you have done from previous lifetimes. Your karma does not bring “bad” or “unlucky” experiences into your life, instead your karma simply highlights the lessons and the journey that your soul needs to learn.

The Universe does not punish you, even though it can feel this way sometimes! The Universe simply sends you lessons and experiences that help you to grow for your highest good and the highest good of others.

Myth #5: You are Not a Limitless Being

If you were to view life through your five senses, you would notice limits. You would see that you are limited by your physical body, you are limited by the capacity of your mind and you are limited as to how you can move and what you can do.

While there are definitely are limits in the human world, in the spirit world there are no limits, at least there are no limits in the way that we understand them. And living inside all of us is a thriving and healthy spirit.

While you may not be able to fly or hold your breath underwater for a long period of time without assistance, there is a force inside of you that is limitless. And by remembering this, it can help you to achieve all of your hopes, goals, dreams and wishes.

When you view life from your hidden senses, from your sixth sense, you will start to see that life is truly limitless and there is nothing you can’t achieve, you may need some help from others, or even assistance from technology, but there is nothing you can’t do.

When you understand that you have a limitless force inside of you, you can use it to help you navigate through this dimension.

You may not be able to exert all of this limitless force within you in your waking life, but simply knowing it is there will allow you to move mountains in whatever direction you feel called to.

We have so many blocks placed in front of us that we need to recognize and become aware of in order to heal and transform as a soul.  Since we are here now on Earth at this time, we are meant to be here.  This means that it was planned and predetermined for you to be on Gaia during this magnificent time in all of the history of the universe to participate in and be a part of this Ascension process.  Indeed you are a strong soul and have been selected to be here not only for the experience but to assist in this period of evolution for yourself and all of humanity.

Since we are everlasting souls who have been privileged to experience multiple incarnations, not only on Earth but other star systems, we carry with us a soul memory of each life we have lived.  However, during incarnation we experience amnesia on purpose.  We are not intended to come “in” knowing our soul origin and awareness.  The growth of our soul comes in reaching this truth within our heart during incarnation.  As we awaken and become aware of our soul truth, origin, and purpose, we begin to accelerate in consciousness.  This is personal soul Ascension.

Now we are not only ascending individually in this way, but collectively as well.  Earth and humanity are encouraged to elevate in frequency and vibration.  Those who personally resonated with you beforehand may not do so if they don’t evolve at the same rate or time frame that you do.  This may be in the form of close friends, family, older children, or significant others.  They will become energetically draining to you as their awareness may still operate in old patterns, whereas you are now in a higher place and there is no longer a feeling of “being on the same page.”  You may have to choose to release these connections as you move forward on your own path, as they will only serve to hold you back from reaching your desired soul growth and potential.  If others naturally “fall away” from you, know that it was meant to be.

Each individual soul is given the chance to evolve in their own way and in their own time-frame.  As a result, we will all be in different stages of growth and expansion.  As we do, some spiritual articles, videos, and advice may not resonate with you specifically.  This does not mean that you are either ahead or behind in this Ascension process.  It simply encourages you as a soul, to take the material that speaks to your heart at the time, and discard the rest.

Throughout your journey to self-love and discovery, you will periodically resonate with some and not others.  Just as well that when you increase in consciousness, someone you followed closely with in the past, may naturally fall away from you.  This does not mean that that particular spiritual “teacher” is now wrong, it is that you simply outgrew their guidance.  As such, we always bow in acknowledgement to each other out of deep respect and gratitude for whatever way they did positively influence our soul progression.

Do you want to shift your life?

I am talking about real, radical and practical shifts that you can actually apply to your every day life. I am talking about change in such a profound way that you feel awakened, loved, supported and guided as you move through your journey.

Since writing on Forever Conscious, I have thought a lot about what people really need to do to turn their life around. I have also thought a lot about the methods that I have used to turn my life around.

While everyone’s journey is different, it really seems that time and time again, it comes down to addressing these four very important questions —

1.) What is the most supportive thing I can do for myself right now?

Take a moment to ask yourself this question. What is one supportive thing that you can do for yourself right now? It doesn’t have to be big, it doesn’t have to be grand, even the smallest supportive act can make a world of difference in your day.

Do you need to sit down for a moment? Do you need a cup of tea? Do you need to watch a funny cat video? Do you need to believe in yourself and what you are doing?

Try to keep your answer focused on the present moment. When you have your answer, go and do it. Make it a priority to support yourself throughout the day by asking yourself this question regularly.

If you want to shift your life, ask yourself this question at least four times a day and act on your answer every time. In less than a week you will start to notice profound changes.

2.) If I truly and absolutely loved myself, what would I do or tell myself in this situation?

We all should really love ourselves deeply, but many of us don’t or many of us forget the importance of self-love. By asking yourself this question, it allows you to approach all of your life decisions from a deeper place of love.

Get still for a moment and ask yourself this question, if I really deeply and madly loved myself, what would I say to myself? If you struggle with this, think of someone in your life that you love deeply. Imagine that they are you for a moment, what advice would you offer them?

One of the most powerful and profound changes you can make in your life is to love, accept and trust yourself. Once you build up that foundation, the rest of your life will fall into place, guaranteed.

3.) What do I need to take responsibility for in my life?

You and only you are responsible for your life. You are responsible for your thoughts, your actions and the words that come out of your mouth. You are responsible for the energy that you send out into the world. When you take responsibility for your life, you also claim something else- power.

When you are ready to take full ownership of your life, it allows you to step into your personal power so you can actually make practical changes to your life. When you take responsibility, it allows you to also see what is in your control and what is not in your control.

We cannot control every aspect of our lives, but by taking responsibility it allows us to focus on what we can change and what we have the power to change.

4.) What things/habits/feelings in my life are no longer serving me?

Get out a pen and paper and make a list of all the things, thoughts, feelings, relationships, emotions and habits that are no longer serving you. Keep writing until everything is out on paper.

When you look at your list, you may notice just one or two key things that are no longer serving you that seem to connect to everything else. Often when we address just one or two areas that are no longer serving us, the rest of it just takes care of itself.

Once you have narrowed down your list to one or two main things that are no longer serving you, see if you can find a way to shift or change things. The trick here is to keep it simple.

If the situation is not in your control, then perhaps it is best to work on bringing healing and acceptance to it. If the situation is in your control, ask yourself what small changes you need to make to support yourself through the process. If the situation is completely out of control, it may be that you need to release it from your life altogether.

You may also find that the other three questions can guide you to a solution.

By working with these four questions on a consistent basis, you will start to see amazing, magical and profound shifts taking place in your life. 🙂

Opening your mind can be just as important as opening your heart. When you open your mind, your life shifts from a place of limited, narrow thinking into a big, expansive thinking that is filled with unlimited opportunities.

To shift to this place, all it takes is a few simple tweaks to your mindset.

The Growth Mindset

When you operate from a growth based mindset, life takes on a whole new meaning. Every opportunity or experience that is sent your way is viewed as a potential, rather than a burden.

Even though it can be difficult to see potential when you are in the midst of a storm, having a growth based mindset allows you to think bigger and shift your awareness to a higher state of mind.

The Fixed Mindset

Living life through a fixed mindset keeps you rooted in fear and in self-doubt. It also is very difficult to see the opportunities that life throws your way when you are in a fixed mindset.

If you are looking to shift your life towards your highest path, you have to open your mind and operate from a place of growth, rather than fixity.

Here 5 ways to shift into a growth based mindset and keep yourself out of a limited or fixed mindset-

1.) Life’s Challenges

When you are in a growth mindset, all challenges that present themselves are viewed as an opportunity for growth. Even though they may seem difficult or hard, challenges are what keeps us moving forward. Challenges also allow us to explore new depths of our potential and strength.

Those operating from a fixed mindset however, avoid or shy away from challenges. They don’t embrace them as a potential point of growth and instead get caught up in victim mode. They may also find themselves complaining about the problem instead of focusing on the solution.

2.) Trusting You Are Supported 

When you are in a growth based mindset, you feel and know that you are supported. You are not afraid of making a wrong turn or ending up on the “wrong path” because intuitively you know that everything is simply a learning experience.

When you are in a fixed mindset, it can be very difficult to trust yourself and the world around you. You may also find yourself believing that the world is against you or that you are competing against others.

In a growth based mindset however, you know that what is yours will always come your way, and that competition is a merely an illusion.

3.) Pursuing Your Dreams

When you are in a growth based mindset, the world is your oyster and there is nothing stopping you from achieving all that you want for yourself. You may understand that there are twists and turns on the road ahead, but ultimately you trust and know that whatever is yours will find you.

When operating from a fixed mindset, it can be very difficult to dream big or think outside the box. It can also be challenging to make a leap of faith towards pursuing what you really want to do. You may feel blocked, reserved or restricted in some way, but this is often just your mindset.

Operating from a growth based mindset allows you the faith and confidence to go after what you truly desire.

4.) Influence of Others

When you are in a fixed mindset, it is very easy to take on other people’s opinions, criticisms and energy as if it were your own. Being in a fixed mindset turns you into a somewhat of a victim and can really hold you back from doing what it is that you really want to do.

When you are in a growth based mindset, you are open to other people’s suggestions but you don’t allow them to stand in your way. You are also able to listen and seek value in criticism, without taking it personally.

While this can be hard to do, when you operate from a growth based mindset it shifts how you allow other people to affect you.

5.) Success 

When you are in a growth based mindset, you rejoice in other people’s successes and view success by your own terms. Success takes on a new meaning for you and is bigger than just financial or material gains.

When you are in a fixed mindset, the success of others can make you jealous and success is based on what other people think of you, rather than your own definition.

The easiest way to shift from a fixed mindset into a growth based mindset is awareness. When you can become aware of your thinking and how it is holding you back, that is when you can make changes.

In many ways, achieving a growth based mindset is simply about reminding yourself every day that life is not happening to you, but for you.

When it fact alone means to be ‘All One’. Being alone will bring you closer to the whole than you have ever been before, but our thoughts, which are based on fear keep us stagnant.

It’s time to stop believing and start knowing. You see, all beliefs are based on thought and all thought is based on fear. This is a notion that totally defies everything you have ever been taught so it will take serious self-reflection to see the underlying truth in what is.

This Law of Attraction Pearl of Wisdom is one of the most important rules for effective manifestation.  It is deceptively simple, and most people probably think that they’re already doing it reasonably well — but I’m here to tell you that nothing could further from the truth.

Most people spend a large percentage of their time WORRYING about everything that could wrong and anticipating the worst — both of which qualify as thinking about what you don’t want!  For most, this insidious habitual way of thinking is entirely unconscious, and they are completely unaware of how much they are doing it.

It’s not surprising that this is the case.  The rational mind believes that anticipating problems is the best approach to avoiding problems even if, in truth, most of the worrying doesn’t solve anything.

The rational approach is certainly understandable for those who are unaware of the underlying laws of creation by which we construct our reality.  Unfortunately, unbeknownst to most, our rational approach in these types of situations is doing the exact opposite of what we expect.  The focus on the POTENTIAL problems and avoiding them are making them MORE of a potential rather than less!

From the rational perspective, what’s going on under the covers is more like magic.  We are creating the reality we perceive and experience with our thoughts, beliefs, and expectations!  This is the Law of Attraction, and it states that we attract people, circumstances, and things into our life that are similar to our most predominate thoughts.  Our external reality is like a mirror reflecting what we think and what we are.

What it is crucial to understand about this law is that it does not distinguish between what you want and what you don’t want, it simply brings to you the essence of what you think about.  The thought “I don’t want XYZ” and “I want XYZ” are identical as far as the Universe is concerned.  In either case, it only hears “XYZ” and it brings it to you.  When you think about what you DON’T want you are attracting what you don’t want!

Overcoming the Habit of Focusing on Potential Problems

When you approach situations anticipating problems and mentally focus on how to avoid those problems, you increase the chances of those very things happening.  The amount of difficulty you anticipate determines the amount of adversity you will experience along the way.

If, instead, you just assume and expect the best, and skip all the worrying, you will soon find that everything will go a lot smoother and more successfully.  This shift in thinking is by no means easy for the average person, who has the deeply ingrained habit of worrying and anticipating the worst.  At first, overcoming the habit and belief that you need to anticipate problems to avoid them will require lots of faith and trust, but if you stick it out you will end up having complete trust in the “expect the best” approach because you will have seen the results.

The first step to getting yourself out of this disempowering habit is to start try to become more aware of your thoughts and your words.  It can be pretty difficult to monitor your thoughts because there are just so many of them running through your head all the time. But, what you say is usually a direct reflection of your thoughts and your words are often easier to catch than your thoughts.  At first, this will be hard and you will occasionally catch yourself focusing on what you don’t want. When you do, shift your thinking to focus on what you do want.  With practice you’ll gradually get better at this until eventually you have created a whole new habit — one of focusing only on what you want, hardly ever thinking about what you don’t, and just about always expecting the best.

Overcoming the Habit of Worrying

Worry attracts problems; it’s that simple.  But how do you break the habit?

You can tell when you are worrying because it is always associated with negative and stressful feelings.  Sometimes our mind wanders into worrying about stuff without us realizing it; this is unavoidable.  Fortunately, it’s easy to recognize the uneasy feelings associated with worrying and these can be the cue that makes you aware of it.

What to do when you catch yourself worrying:

  • Immediately switch to focusing on positive thoughts about what you want.
  • Use positive affirmations to focus on optimistic visions of your desired outcome.
    • Here’s an example — let’s say you are an aspiring writer and author and you’re getting discouraged.  Maybe you are having recurring negative thoughts like “writing is so hard for me, I’ll never be a writer.”  Neutralize these negative thoughts by saying out loud, or in your head, something like, “I can LEARN to write better. With practice I can become a good writer and a successful author.”
  • Ask the universe for help — sometimes referred to as Prayer. Whether you know it or not you’ve got spirit guides that would be delighted to help, all you have to do is ask.

Becoming a Master of Deliberate Creation

We are always creating our reality with our thoughts but most of us are doing it unconsciously and our many misguided mental habits are causing us to manifest incoherently and ineffectively.  By INTENTIONALLY thinking about the things you want while INTENTIONALLY NOT thinking about the things that you don’t want, you pave the way for smoother sailing in your life at every level.

Trust the Universe, trust the laws of creation, and trust your creational abilities.  Consistently focus on only what you want and expect the best and you will be amazed at the ease, grace, and abundance that will increasingly enter your life.

4 Ways To Make BETTER Affirmations

Affirmations can be tricky, tricky things.

Affirmations are positive statements designed to focus our attention on having the things we want in life. Many students of the Law of Attraction use affirmations regularly to align with their goals and desires.

A well-constructed affirmation can tap you into the knowledge that all is well, and that you are capable of great things. A well-constructed affirmation can help you attract more and more of the good things you are hoping to manifest with the Law of Attraction.

A not-so-well-constructed affirmation can leave you feeling bored and uninspired, or even worse, irritated, sad or angry! A not-so-well-constructed affirmation will actually push away the things you want.

Therefore, it’s really important to construct your affirmations with care!

What makes a good affirmation?

There are a number of characteristics of a good affirmation. However, in my opinion, the most important characteristic of a good affirmation is that it feels true.

Consider the following.

You are a young woman who just got dumped and who has a bad relationship with your family. You are feeling alone and uncared for. You want to attract in new relationships that make you feel connected and loved, so you decide to practice some affirmations.

You find a few affirmations, and decide to use this one daily: “I am loved.”

Do you imagine reciting the affirmation “I am loved,” over and over is going to feel particularly true to you in this situation?

Probably not. In fact, saying “I am loved” to yourself over and over again when you are clearly NOT feeling very loved is only going to amplify the feelings of being unloved, not loved.

Whenever we feel we don’t have something we want, telling ourselves we have it is a surefire way to establish greater feelings of insecurity.

When we assert something we don’t believe we have, it makes us feel like we are lying to ourselves. It’s not a good feeling. It’s like telling a sad person to smile and be positive when he or she is sobbing uncontrollably. It just doesn’t work, and it only makes the sad person feel worse.

Telling yourself you have something you don’t really believe you have is the wrong way to use affirmations. An affirmation must feel true in order to amplify positive feelings of belief.

If your affirmations don’t feel true, modify them.

So, what do you do? If you want to attract love, are you simply supposed to avoid all kinds of affirmations about love?

No! You can still use affirmations about love, just modify them to make them feel true!

Below are six affirmation modifiers you can use to make your affirmations ring true on a more consistent basis. Consider adding modifiers to adjust your affirmations and make them more effective.

1. “I’m looking forward to…”

When there’s something you want that you don’t have yet, one thing you can affirm is your excitement to get what you want.

Adding the modifier “I’m looking forward to…” to the beginning of your affirmation allows you to focus on what you want in a positive way. It enables you to practice the feeling of positive anticipation, which feels good.

The truth is, you are looking forward to this thing you want. For this reason, this affirmation should always ring true.

For example: “I am wealthy and successful” might not feel too true when you’re living paycheck to paycheck. Instead, change this affirmation to “I’m looking forward to wealth and success.”

2. “It feels really good when I…”

Sometimes, there are things we want again that we’ve had before. In times like this, this modifier is especially useful.

This affirmation modifier allows you to remember (and therefore practice) the feeling of having something you had before in the past.

Practicing the feeling of what you had is a great way to get into better alignment with the desire to have it again. This type of modifier asserts that you’ve done it before and it allows you to feel good about something you’ve accomplished in the past.

For example: “I attract positive people and circumstances” might not feel too true when you’re having a bad day and find yourself surrounded by negativity. In a situation like this, change this affirmation to “It feels really good when I attract positive people and circumstances.”

3. “I am often/frequently…”

Similar to the previous modifier, this affirmation modification asserts that you’ve done it before. This is another great modifier to use when there’s something you’ve had before that you want to experience again.

For example: “I am appreciated” might not feel to true when you’re feeling criticized or overlooked. Instead, try “I am often/frequently appreciated.”

4. “…in many ways.”

This is a great modifier to enhance something you already have some of, but you want more of.

The nice thing about this modifier is that amplifies the knowledge of all of the many ways you already have exactly what you’re asking for. This modifier encourages you to think about and dwell on the many reasons why you are already successful at getting what you want.

For example: “I am prosperous” might feel somewhat true to you because you have a home, a car and some money in the bank. To feel especially true, and to amplify the feeling of prosperity, add the modifier by saying “I am prosperous in many ways.”

Try them out!

I hope you find good use for these affirmation modifications. Use these four modifiers liberally, and play around with them to see which ones work well for the desires you are hoping to attract!

Remember, an effective affirmation makes you feel good because it’s a positive statement that feels very honest and true. Modifiers like these can help you amplify the authenticity of your affirmations.

You are pure consciousness that has manifested into physical form. This consciousness that you are holds infinite potential and is responsible for all creations.

In fact, the more you can tune into your consciousness or soul, the more you will be able to understand your own potential.

How to Use it: Get to understand and feel the potential of your consciousness through meditation and creative activities.

2. The Law of Frequency and Reflection 

Everything in this Universe carries a frequency. This frequency is emitted from your entire being including your thoughts, emotions and actions.

This frequency then attracts experiences, people and circumstances back into your vibrational field. This means that your thoughts, feelings and actions create a vibration that then reflects back to you. What you put out into the world through your vibration and through your energy comes back.

If every experience that comes your way is a reflection of your inner state, that means that every experience is here to teach you a valuable lesson about who you truly are and what you can overcome.

How to Use it: work on raising your frequency or vibration by thinking positively and focusing on the many blessings in your life.

3. The Law of Attraction 

This is probably the most well known law of the Universe and dictates that you have the ability to attract things into your reality based on the energy that you are emitting.

The more you focus on something, the bigger it grows and the more you think about something, the more likely you are to notice it. Like attracts like, so the more you can align yourself with the vibration of what you want to attract, the more likely it is to manifest in your life.

When you start aligning with your potential or pure consciousness, you automatically start sending out a vibration that is aligned with your highest path. This vibration then attracts the perfect opportunities and circumstances into your reality.

How to Use it: visualise what you want to create for your life and believe in your potential to create it.

4. The Law of Karma

There are certain experiences that your soul has come here to learn. These experiences are determined from past lives and before you came into your physical body. These experiences are your karma or points of growth in this life that you are meant to experience.

The law of karma ensures that you are always learning and growing from your past, and moving forward to help expand the consciousness of this Universe. Without the expansion of the Universe, the Universe ceases to exist.

How to Use it: trust in the flow of the Universe and remember that every experience is a blessing and opportunity.

5. The Law of Oneness

We are all connected, which means that what we do to others we do to ourselves and vice versa. We are all one and we are all equal.

When we understand this, we also understand that there is no competition and that there is no need to fear not having enough or not being enough. We are all part of the grand web of life, and we all have an important role to play in how reality manifests.

How to Use it: understand we are all equally important and we all have a purpose and gifts to share in this life.
