STEVE TAYLOR, Ph.D.: “Transformation Through Dying — The Aftermath Of Near-Death Experiences”

Ascension Avatar note: I’ve been through this three times since age 3 and retained my original soul, but each time came back wiser with new abilities… art… hearing ‘music of the spheres’… having ‘x-ray vision’ into the souls of humans, if they are human at all or a cloned version… knowing the final outcome of earthly events long before they ‘occur’…

.   .   .

A near-death experience is when a person appears to be clinically “dead” for a short period — when the heart stops beating, the brain registers no sign of activity and other vital signs indicate death — and yet they report a continuation of consciousness. This may happen following a cardiac arrest, for example. For a few seconds or minutes, a person may show no biological signs of life, and yet when they are resuscitated, report that a series of unusual experiences.

Typically, near-death experiences begin with a feeling of separation from the body (or out-of-body experience), sometimes with a humming or whistling sound. Then there is usually a journey through a dark passage or tunnel towards a place of light. There is a feeling of serenity and intense well-being, a sense of calmness and wholeness, which is often so pleasant that some people are reluctant to return to their bodies, and even feel disappointed when they regain consciousness. Often people meet deceased relatives or beings of light. In a smaller proportion of cases, there is a “life review,” in which the significant events of a person’s life are replayed.

Throughout the experience, people feel that their senses have become heightened — everything they experience has a quality of intense realness. In contrast to hallucinations, NDEs feel much more real than our ordinary experience. There is often also a sense of being outside time. Even though a person may only be unconscious for a few seconds, they may undergo a complex succession of experiences that may appear to last for hours. There is also a sense of connectedness or unity. The sense of being a separate entity, enclosed within our own mental space, is replaced by a sense of being part of an interconnected network of being, of sharing identity with other people, or the world in general.

Near-death experiences are controversial because it is difficult to explain them in neurological terms. Many suggestions have been made — for example, that they are caused by cerebral anoxia, by undetected brain activity, or the release of “psychedelic chemicals” like DMT or ketamine in the brain when a person is close to death. From this point of view, NDEs are nothing more than brain-created hallucinations, no more real than dreams.

The After-Effects of NDEs

However, one of the most striking things about near-death experiences is their long-term effect. They frequently bring about a profound shift of values and perspective, which itself leads to major lifestyle changes. People often become less materialistic and more altruistic, less self-oriented and more compassionate. They often feel a new sense of purpose, and their relationships become more authentic and intimate. They report becoming more sensitive to beauty, and more appreciative of everyday things. One person who had an NDE after a heart attack told the researcher Margot Grey, “Since then, everything has been so different… The sky is so blue and the trees are much greener; everything is so much more beautiful. My senses are so much sharper.” People often report becoming more intuitive too, and even sometimes developing psychic abilities. Another woman told Margot Grey that she felt “a very heightened sense of love, the ability to communicate love, the ability to find joy and pleasure in the most insignificant things about me…I seemed to have a very heightened awareness, I would say almost telepathic abilities.”

One of the most significant effects of NDEs is a loss of the fear of death. Because NDEs have such a powerful quality of realness, most people are convinced that they really have briefly experienced death. As a result, they become certain that there is life after death. And since their NDE was such a blissful experience — so blissful that people are sometimes disappointed to return to their bodies — any anxiety they may have had about dying dissolves away. It’s probable that an unconscious fear of death is a major source of a lot of pathological human behavior — such as materialism and status-seeking — so when this fear disappears, it has a major effect. So the loss of fear of death probably contributes significantly to some of the other changes I’ve already mentioned, such as a shift away from materialism.

It’s remarkable that one single experience can have such a profound, long-lasting transformational effect. And this is illustrated by research showing that people who have near-death experiences following suicide attempts very rarely attempt suicide again. This is in stark contrast to the normal pattern — in fact, a previous suicide attempt is usually the strongest predictor of actual suicide.

And in my view, the fact that they have such profound after-effects makes it seem very unlikely that NDEs are a brain-generated hallucination. Hallucinations certainly do not have these kinds of transformational after-effects. They are usually quickly forgotten, with a clear sense that they were delusional experiences, less authentic and reliable than ordinary consciousness. But with near-death experiences, there is a clear sense that what we experience is more real and authentic than normal consciousness, and our vision of reality — and our values and attitude to life — are completely transformed.

So if NDEs can’t be explained in neurological terms, how can they be explained? Perhaps to a large extent, they can’t be explained. But as I point out in my new book Spiritual Science, they certainly point towards a different vision of the world in which consciousness isn’t directly produced by the brain, but is in some sense fundamental and universal.

CONSCIOUS REMINDER: “7 Signs Your Calling Is A Modern Day Shaman”

Ascension Avatar note: With prominent Native American heritage, gifted (or cursed?) with OBEs, levitation, and having survived three NDEs… this article really ‘called’ to me today… 🙂

.  .  .

A Shaman is a person who helps others to awaken their consciousness and heals the wounds of the humanity.

In this article we’ll share 7 signs which will tell if you can be a shaman or not. Here are the signs that you are being called on the Shamanic Path.

1. YOU FEEL A STRONG CONNECTION TO NATURE

You understand that everything in the world is connected. Thus you feel close to the nature. You see yourself as a part of the nature. You can even experience the joy and the pain that a dog (or any other animal) feels. Like other Shamans, you believe in the concept of ‘the web of life’.

2. YOU ENJOY SOLITUDE AND FIND IT HARD TO FIT IN WITH OTHERS

Since the ancient times, shamans have been living a life of solitude. They lived outside the villages and were considered as ‘different’. However, they were the reverent figures as they possessed the wisdom of this world and the other world. Their gift of sensitivity and empathy was also respected.

3. YOU’VE EXPERIENCED A NEAR-DEATH, OUT-OF-BODY OR MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE

To be called a shaman, you must experience death and rebirth. Thus, most shamans experience a near death experience or a life threatening problem. Only after healing from this condition can a shaman really possess true powers.

4. YOU’VE FELT A SUBTLE HEALING ENERGY IN YOUR HANDS

You have the ability to control and manipulate energy in others’ bodies.

5. YOU CAN EASILY ‘READ’ OTHERS

People having Shamanic frequency are able to feel and tell people’s emotions and problems. Thus, you can even tell sometimes about the possible solutions for a problem without even knowing it.

6. YOUR ANCESTORS WERE ALSO HEALERS

Many a times it is observed that the shamanic abilities are inherited from the forefathers. Thus if your father or grandfather was a shaman, there is real chance that you are too.

7. YOU CAN SEE THINGS THAT OTHERS CAN’T SEE

You have been introduced to the hidden dimensions at a very early age. Thus you can see and feel things that others cannot. To control this huge influx, you must have fluidity in your mind.

What do you think about these signs? Are you showing any of these signs? Maybe you know someone who is.

Let us know your thoughts!

GREGG PRESCOTT: “Facing The Death Of A Loved One”

Facing The Death Of A Loved One

by Gregg Prescott, M.S.
Editor, In5D.com

In loving memory of my beloved sister Lola, July 12, 1958-December 30, 2011

Some cultures celebrate the death of a loved one instead of mourning for them which makes a lot more sense than the grieving process, but it is easier said than done when it involves the loss of a family member or someone close to you.

As evidenced by many near death experiences, crossing over to the other side is painless and often occurs before the body is officially deceased, which alleviates any fear while promoting a sense of warmth, comfort and love.

Most people who have a near death experience are often greeted by deceased family members after they follow the tunnel toward the light, although it is not time for them to be officially reunited with their loved ones.  These are the people who bring back the eternal message of love for us.

There is no more pain for our loved ones as they join their family and soul groups on the other side.  Most people who have a near death experience truly wish for us not to grieve for them because they are safe and loved.   If anything, they would want us to be happy for them, knowing that in time, we will all be reunited.

In the meanwhile, the process is much more difficult on this side of the veil.  For this incarnation, we will no longer be able to hug or talk to our loved ones, which creates a void of emptiness that is irreplaceable.

What many of us fail to realize is that we are all on a time schedule that we agreed upon in our soul contracts.  When we were on the other side, it didn’t really seem to matter when we passed because we knew that we would return to Source, our soul groups and the unconditional love that we were feeling when we made our contracts.  Besides, time is non-existent on the other side, so there is very little difference between 23 years or 5,000 years, it’s just a number.

I recently wrote an article after having an amazing psychic consultation with Shawn Cohen.  I didn’t write everything I was told in that particular article, but close friends know the rest of the story.  Shawn mentioned she saw the number 3 in regard to my sister, Lola, meaning she wasn’t sure if Lola had 3 days, weeks or months to live.  As it turned out, Lola passed exactly 3 months after my sister Tara first visited Lola when she became seriously ill.

My Message to YOU from my Psychic Reading by Shawn Cohen

Additionally in this reading, my paternal grandfather mentioned that my sisters and I should not only follow the light when we pass, but also the smell of my grandmother’s pirogues.  That statement was specifically directed for Lola, but I couldn’t write it that way in the article. (I made pirogues for dinner on the evening of her death)

I also received a message from Lola’s boyfriend who died in a car accident.  He said, “Tell Lola there is no reason to mourn.” He added a lot more, but this is how people view death on the other side.  They don’t want us to be sad because sadness isn’t part of their loving existence on the other side.

For example, even when a near death experience involves having a spouse and children on this side of the veil, people still do not want to return to this lifestyle after experiencing the unconditional love on the other side. Those who have experienced a near death are constantly reminding us that “I’m okay on the other side, please don’t worry about me!”

One of my friends on Facebook used Shawn’s services and stated the following:

“And when the time comes, you have a friend in Shawn Cohen, who can tell you that your sister is doing wonderful now…. Thank you, Gregg, for posting about Shawn, on your website. She helped me connect with my mom, dad, and brother.”

Shawn helped to provide the needed closure for my sister in regard to her relationship with her deceased boyfriend.  Lola had me retell this reading to her time and time again.

I was assured by my grandfather that Lola would hold on until January 9th, 2012 for me to be able to fly out to visit her, but free will always takes precedence.  Every night before I went to sleep, I connected with Lola’s higher self and told her not to hang on for me, and that it was alright to pass on to the other side whenever she was ready.  More than my own selfish needs, I wanted her to be without pain and in the arms of loved ones on the other side.

While the sands of time may seem to erase some of the experiences we have created with our loved ones, they are all recorded in the Akashic Records to be relived during our life review when we pass over to the other side.  In this scenario, we view our life in regard to how we made a difference to the people who we encountered throughout our journey.  Then, we view our life through THEIR eyes.

Santos Bonacci said something that will always stay with me.  He stated (and I’m paraphrasing) “From the second the sperm fertilizes the egg, we begin dying.  We were alive before that moment”.

In the end, there is no separation. We truly are spiritual beings having a human experience.

Lola Helen Prescott was a loving soul whose heart was as big as her smile.  As an amazing artist, Lola’s style reflected her own creative perspective which was absolutely unique. Her love for animals and nature equally matched her love for humanity. She has made a huge, positive difference in the lives of many people and is dearly missed by all.

See you on the other side, sis. ❤
