KARA SCHALLOCK: “More…”

Do you perceive Beauty everywhere?  Do you see it even when the intellect says it’s ugly?  Do you perceive a difference between you and those you judge to be “less than” like so-called immigrants, those you judge that linger in 3D (according to you), folks who hurt others?  Or do you perceive a difference between you and those you deem “more than?”  Remember, we are all One.  You are connected with everyone and everything.  There is no “us and them” in the New.  You may observe some doing things you wouldn’t choose to do.  Can you see that perhaps the “others” help you transform all lower energies (and integrate higher energies) in yourself?  Can you see the Love within all that reflects the Love that you are?  If so, you indeed are firmly in the New.  If not, perhaps there’s more work to do.  You can love all and yet choose not to be in relationship with those who vibrate differently than yourself.

There is and has been an expansion of your Heart and Crown chakras.  This expansion helps you be more accepting and compassionate.  Be aware of how you feel moment to moment.  One minute you seem to be flowing in expansion and the next minute not feeling as though anything has shifted.  This fluctuation is how it is for most as we continue to detach from 3D and embrace the New.  Some physical manifestations you may experience as expansion occurs are tingling (especially in or on the head and in and around the Heart).

You may feel dizzy as well, yet notice the choices you are making; notice how you are expanding; especially in your thoughts and actions.  Notice how fearless you are.  Be aware too that if it seems things happen to you, like others not choosing to be around you or being fired from a job or not having enough money, that it still is your choice… whether it’s a conscious one or not. Remember you attract to you what is within your consciousness.  Breathe, flow and ground.  Take care of yourself.  What life do you choose to create?  The energies that integrate within you help you create your ideal life (based on how you want to feel) without chaos or confusion.

As the energy continuously builds, remind yourself that you are not alone, even though many are on different paths and going at different speeds.  Some may feel exhilerated, while others are anxious and angry.  I notice that the ones I truly feel connected with are children, while some adults in my life seem belligerent. (Hmmm; do I have both energies within me?)

Engage where and when you can as you are called to and let the rest go, for each being must choose for themselves.  You need not become definsive or match others’ vibration or take anything personally.  Stand in your own Truth and honor others for wherever they may be.

Never doubt that all we’ve been doing is merging with our Soul/GodSelf/Divinity.  This is our True Self.  Being fully immersed as our True Self, there is no more seeking outside of ourselves; actually, there is no seeking at all; there is only a Knowing.  This immersion is more than being “spiritual”; this is true being. How do we do this?  First, we must release and transform all old patterns, emotions and beliefs, along with anything that limits or holds us back in duality.  When we clear all of the old, we experience true self-worth.  We experience true Wholeness; not just in one moment, but in every moment; this is being authentic.  We truly know that we are One with all of life; we are Source.

Generally speaking, the phase we are in now, if you’re ready and committed, is to practice; putting all you know into action everyday and in every moment… walking your talk.  It is not enough to read others’ words only; it is essential to put words into action, to be what you say you are.  Work for all; be in Divine Service.  When we serve all, we serve ourselves and most importantly, we serve Divine Will.  Isn’t that one of the main reasons of why we’re on Earth at this time?  We each have a path; a mission; it is based on our gifts and where we are drawn.  When you are Joy, you trust, you love, you serve.  You are free.

Meanwhile, continue to release and trust your process.  Allow yourself to not be comfortable, for the New is not comfortable.  Trust that all is in Divine Order.  You may want your loved ones to join you, yet trust they have their own path, so honor them.  Attempting to change others is of the old and it not only distracts you, but pushes them further away.

Trust that as you become somewhat comfortable in one phase of your Journey, another arrives.  It is so very important to take care of yourself through diet, rest and being still.  Only you know what is self-loving for you.  Fill your own cup first and then you will be able to serve others unconditionally.

In my own life, I see so much has shifted. People I was once close with have distanced themselves.  My diet has shifted, as have so much in my life.  The biggest shift is that I am extremely aware of not only where I resist, but where others resist as well.  I notice old longings surface and I see where I am; whether it’s here, there, nowhere and everywhere.  I know many of you can relate to this ebb and flow of life.

Each of us has a calling.  No one calling is better or worse than another.  Each is an aspect of Divine Service; be it healing, collecting refuse, nursing, teaching or simply being Love without a career of any kind.  Sometimes you’re called to be somewhere.  When you arrive, you may not resonate with the place at all.  However, there are no mistakes.  Some years ago, I was called to Idaho.  I had never even heard of it before and when I arrived I uttered, “Uh-oh!”  Idaho has never felt like home to me and yet I am here; I’m here for a purpose.  It’s not necessary to know what that purpose is and you don’t need to know the whys of where you are either.  The main thing to do is to say Yes.  We share our Light no matter where we are or what we do.

Each of us is unique; what works for one may not work for another.  This is why it’s essential to follow one’s own guidance.  We integrate Light and release all uniquely.  Realize too that much occurs without us consciously willing it to be so.  We can observe the changes and I do love this, as when the changes bypass the separate ego, they cannot be interfered with.  However, we on a deeper level choose everything; consciously or not.  When we give our Power away to others, we stop our own Transformation, for others cannot truly know what is best for us.  This allows us to take full Responsbility for our own Transformation.  What helps this is to fully merge with our Souls and then step out of the way.  Instead, we follow our guidance, even when it makes no sense.  While we surrender to the unconscious aspect of evolution, we still must act in a way that goes beyond the separate ego; the patterns we have anchored that are of the old.

To integrate the higher frequencies that bring healing and wholing to our cells and DNA, we must do the clearing work.  Some happens spontanously; with others we consciously choose to shift.  Whether we integrate unconsciously or consciously, we may experience many physical sensations such as electrical currents in different parts of our body, weight fluxes, sleep disturbances, headaches, blurry eyes (or as if there is something irritating in the eye), shifts in elimination and all sorts of things not mentioned here.  When in doubt, ask your body and your guidance to see if it’s related to Ascension or not (it usually is!).

Be aware that your Sensitivity is expanding and upgrading.  This includes more acute hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling and more.  Certain situations may be irritating.  If you feel overloaded by stimuli, rest or step away.  If you take things personally, realize this is not true Sensitivity; it’s separate ego-sensitivity.  It also means that you may still be attached to what others think of you.  Let this go so you may experience true Sensitivity.

Are you ready to move onto new phases of Discovery?  Are you committed to your Ascension and evolving into being New; brand New?  Are you still teetering on the edge, not sure if you want to jump?  Wherever you are is fine.  Trust yourself and follow your guidance/Intuition.

MICHELLE WALLING, CHLC: “How To Move Through Vibrational Roadblocks”

vibrational-roadblocks.jpg

Congratulations on learning how to raise your vibrational frequency! You may be wondering what to do next, and you also may have had some unexpected challenges that have left you wondering if you are doing the right thing. What is the next step beyond raising your vibration and when do the challenges end?

As a part of spiritual awakening, we learned that the world has existed in a lower vibrational frequency which has kept us lulled into complacency in a walking sleep state. You may have read many articles on raising your vibration such as this one- How To Raise Your Personal Vibration, and may have listened to videos such as this one from Gregg Prescott of In5d that explains how this frequency has been all around us and why:

As you transmuted low vibrational frequencies, your DNA has slowly shifted to allow our cells to vibrate faster. This has allowed your cells to begin to ignite with light or plasma, and the DNA within your cells has begun to transform.

Through meditation, you slowed time down, turned off the outside world, went within to raise your frequency. You worked on transmuting energies of fear (thick, sticky, dark energy), and are learning to operate from the heart rather than the head or ego. Your consciousness has expanded along with your cells and you are working on detoxing and purifying your body, which also raises your vibrational frequency.

A couple of things may have happened since you began your work. For one, you may have figured out that at some point you will need to stop raising your frequency or your spirit may pop out of your body. This isn’t a bad thing as people have out of body (OBE) experiences a lot. However, for the purpose of holding a frequency that will help Earth to ascend in her vibrational frequency and consciousness, we need to stay in the body and be grounded. The importance of grounding is imperative because it keeps us in tune with the Earth and Source, and is one of the most important things we do on a daily basis.

Another thing that may have happened to you as you hit a high point of vibration is that negative entities were attracted to you like moths to a flame. This is because the beings that feed off of our energy are beginning to starve as a collective because of the number of people waking up and cutting them out of their lives. When they notice a glowing light bulb on their plane of existence, they think that they will be getting a buffet dinner. They gather around and wait for the dinner bell. If you are not always on your toes, you may slip back into an old habit such as arguing, jealousy, alcohol, or drug use. These behaviors and actions create a fissure in the auric field just big enough to allow one of these entities to plug the socket in to start feeding.

Slowly you begin to be drained again of your energy and your cells begin to vibrate a bit slower. If this happened to you, the good news is that your consciousness was raised enough to understand what had happened, and many of you pulled out of this situation and went right back into a high vibrational state. You also realized that the reason this happened to you is that you were vibrating so high that you were noticed. Don’t have any fear about getting back to that state, because the higher you go, at one point you will become invisible to them. This is a game of one step forward and two steps beck, but eventually you will get to the top of the stairs. Don’t be too hard on yourself for that backward step, it is a very normal part of learning and experience through a veiled illusion.

Another possibility is that while clearing out what is not of a high vibrational frequency, some hidden things of the past surfaced and you struggled with major changes on your life. Upheaval brought a bit of chaos until you were able to figure things out. This was almost another dark night of the soul, but since you had already been there before you recognized that you simply needed to pay attention to what was coming up and deal with it like the warrior that you are. Most of the times this upheaval can be interpreted as a vibrational roadblock, keeping you in a seemingly never ending “groundhog day”.

Then you may have had the rinse and repeat pattern. Some people who suffer form this have been labeled as “bipolar”. This is when individuals have fluctuations from negative to positive and back, and whose vibrations fluctuate from low to high to low. These individuals are highly receptive to influences from outside electromagnetic, UV and audio frequencies.

You may have realized that you needed to move away from the person or situation that triggered you or the city that was bombarding you with low frequencies through towers and radio waves. The important thing to realize is that running away will not keep the pattern from repeating. The energies need to be felt through the emotional body and let out in a way that does not harm others. Figuring out how to do this is simply a trial and error creation.

The “what to do next?” question can be answered by determining where you are in the stages of flux right now. The mastery of this incarnation is to learn how to balance the fluctuations of vibrations so that you do not have such extreme polarities. You don’t want to pop out of your body unless you are trying to, and you don’t want another dark night of the soul. Now is the time to master learning how to control your reactions and thoughts much better each time you are triggered. It’s also time to face your fears and stop running away from situation and people, but instead recognizing where the energy came from and transmuting it into a balanced state.

It is time now to harness the power of the earth, and the cosmos. The mind, body, and soul are keys to unlocking potential and finding the vibration and energy that is in tune with who you really are. The secret to life isn’t about continuing to “raising your vibe”. That gets you to a place where you can discover your unique soul frequency and tune into it. Doing this will strengthen your connection with your higher self, your oversoul, and Source (all the same thing on the highest level). This is the advanced work that is to be done as you raise your vibrational frequency. Everyone’s spirit rings a particular tone. Go within to hear or feel your tone and intend to bring more of that tone into your body. When you feel like you are singing your own song of love and harmony, share your tone with everyone and everything in your reality, and see how happy that makes you feel.

Finally, if you find yourself becoming bored and unhappy and have cut off everything that you used to do that was fun, it’s time to re-evaluate your life from a higher perspective.

I recently had a life coaching session with a 67 year old man whose life consisted of baseball, hunting, and hanging out in the woods. He found himself sitting alone, cut off from the world, wondering “what’s next”?

After asking him a few questions, I sensed that he had a really good handle on identifying what was harmful to him and he had worked very hard to eliminate these things. We decided together that is was o.k. for him to re-introduce some of the things that he used to love to do, with a higher consciousness, awareness, and understanding. For example, he really missed baseball and he got really excited when I told him to turn the TV on to watch a few games! He knows how to shield himself with crystals and will turn the volume down during commercials. He also will go back to sitting in his deer stand with his bow and arrow, which is when he was most happy in life. Before he shoots a deer, he will telepathically commune with it and the Earth and ask for permission to take the deer’s life. He will also use all of the deer in one way or another that is not wasteful. While this may be controversial for animal rights activists and vegetarians, this man had done nothing his whole life but spend time in the woods, hunt, and watch baseball, and when he quit doing these things he lost his friends and became a hermit and was on the verge of severe depression.

This man’s case is a lesson in tailoring your spiritual practice to your lifestyle. It shows that it is important to do what makes you happy in life while we shift from 3d through 4d and into 5d. Of course we will eliminate a lot of things when we shift out of this reality. But for now, take a good look at what you have stripped away from your life and think about whether if it has left you barren. If you quit your banking job and you cannot keep food in the refrigerator, it may be time to take on a similar job until the banking system collapses. An understanding of how to emotionally detach from the system will allow you to do this knowing that you will be happier with income for now. Some people just simply cannot work in the very industries that are corrupting our lives, while some may need to be infiltrators from the inside out. Learn how to have balance in your life, and learn how to turn a negative situation into a positive one.  If you need to, do some things in moderation that may have been labeled as spiritual “no no’s” based on your intuition, soul path, and lifetime history.

The challenges may not end until we have returned to Source to sign up for another assignment. However, by integrating our higher self’s wisdom from our soul, we can learn how to play the game with a better understanding of how to be in this world but not of it. Your intention to remove yourself from this reality will be the strong force to push like minded individuals over the edge into a new reality where these struggles will vanish. For now, do the best you can and take the load of bricks off of your shoulders. Your going to get there one way or another, and right now you have to do what makes life easiest for you while you continue to climb the steps. Your soul song frequency will get more and more refined for every brick you drop.

PAIGE BARTHOLOMEW: “Your 7 Sacred Soul Tasks”

seven-sacred-tasks-2

Does it feel like something is out of balance in your life?  Maybe you’ve done a ton of healing work, you’ve read all the self-help books, you’ve meditated with the best of them, but still something feels off.

Having difficulties doesn’t mean that you’re failing at being a spiritual person.
Your life is simply showing you where you’ve still got some work to do.

Here’s what you need to know: your seven chakras aren’t just energy centers.  They are sacred containers of knowledge which contain an enormous amount of specific information for your growth.  Each chakra holds within it a soul task which must be mastered.  If any soul task is left incomplete, painful symptoms will show up in your life and your relationships.  These symptoms are signs showing you where you need to do your work.

First Chakra Task: Keep Yourself Safe

If you’re out of balance in this soul task, you might notice that you put others needs before your own — to your detriment.  You may allow situations or relationships into your life that hurt you.  You may rationalize that you deserve the pain.  You might turn on yourself, speak harshly to yourself, you may even hate yourself.  To improve your health in this chakra, make a commitment to observe the ways that you devalue yourself and let others devalue you.  The truth is — no one is more important than you, and you are no more important than anyone else.  Your needs matter as much as anyone else’s.  Stay mindful every day.  A deep purification process like this takes time, so keep at it until you feel more stabilized.

Second Chakra Task: Connect with Others

We can’t make healthy connections with others if we believe everyone else is better, smarter, or that they matter more than we do (see how the health of each chakra has to be solid before we can fully master the next?).  If you’re out of balance in this soul task, you might notice that it feels hard to make and keep friends.  Connection may feel difficult for you.  To improve your health in this chakra, start with a commitment to daily self-inquiry and examination.  Observe your own behaviors and feelings around others.  Take small steps toward interaction with people.  Set goals for joining in with groups.  Remember, your commitment is all you need.  If you are committed, the healing will come.

Third Chakra Task: Set Boundaries

Symptoms of ill-health in the third chakra show up as either a tendency to be “too nice” and let people walk all over you, or to be “the Big Cheese”, believing you are entitled to more than your fair share.  We must learn healthy boundaries.  If you are out of balance in this chakra, you might have a hard time saying no.  You may grieve a lot about other people’s pain.  You may worry about how someone will feel if you set down boundaries.  Or — you may feel an impulse to run over people to get your needs met.  To improve your health in this chakra, first commit to observing your patterns and discover the reasons for them.  Then make a solid commitment to boundary setting.  Learn to say “Yes” and “No” at appropriate times, both to others and to YOURSELF.  You must learn to say NO to toxic people, places and situations, and say YES to beautiful, fair, kind ones.  The third chakra soul task balances the ego.

Fourth Chakra Task: Forgive

If you’re out of balance in this soul task, you might notice that you have trouble forgiving yourself or others.  You might be hurt or angry about things that happened a very long time ago.  You might hold grudges.  Forgiveness is the soul task that opens the heart.  If we are unable to forgive, we will be unable to move into fourth density consciousness (4th chakra heart), which is vital if we are to shift into the New Earth.  Forgiveness requires a change of heart.  Forgiveness occurs when we accept that our brother (or our self) is, in truth, innocent, and deserves our compassion.  No matter what you did, no matter what they did, the soul is innocent.  If you’re having trouble discerning whether or not to trust someone who is toxic or dangerous, go back to the third chakra — you have more work to do there.

Fifth Chakra Task: Embody Fearless Truth

Symptoms of ill-health in the fifth chakra show up as a fear of speaking your truth.  You may be afraid of the consequences when you say what you deeply believe.  You may fear hearing what someone else deeply believes.  When this chakra is balanced, you’ll know how to discern Truth from falsehood, because you will have effectively grasped all of the soul tasks from the previous chakras.  Here, the soul is becoming pure.  To heal an imbalanced fifth chakra, practice knowing your Truth.  Practice standing firm in your truth.  And finally, practice speaking your truth while maintaining pristine compassion and respect for others.

Sixth Chakra Task: Become One with the Creation

When the sixth chakra soul task is incomplete, we do not see others as our self — we see them as separate.  It is a very high state of being to actually be able to see others as yourself.  It’s more than just sympathy.  It’s more than just being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes.  We are talking about literally seeing your brother as YOU.  Seeing that you are the same being at the core.  The truth is — we are all only ONE being.  Symptoms of ill-health in this chakra show up as subtle projections onto other people: “He is less evolved than I am.”  Symptoms also show up as a sense of separation: “I’m glad it’s them and not me.”  To restore health in the sixth chakra, meditation is necessary.  Become quiet and get to know yourself in stillness.  Practice seeing your neighbor as yourself.  Practice seeing a tree as yourself.  Feel it as though it were REAL.

Seventh Chakra Task: Become One with the Creator

Becoming one with the Creator is such a high state that humans are not capable of maintaining it for long periods of time.  Like the story in the bible when God revealed Himself to the mountain and it crumbled to dust, we dissolve back into All-ness when we reach this eternal station.  We slip into states of Divine knowingness, drink from it, and then we slip back out.  It’s that way by design.  Each time we slip in, the experience changes us so profoundly, we are never the same human being again.  Our soul task in this chakra is not a matter of reaching perfection, because we never will.  This chakra is infinite.  Our task here is to open to the mystery of the absolute as often as possible, and to surrender our small self to its Intelligence.  Practice by meditating on loving your Creator.  Meditate on opening your entire being and offering it to the service of your Creator.  Ask for help from your Creator, for your human self cannot know how to explore the realms of the Most High without help from the Most High.

Have fun in your travels, for in truth,
Growing through these soul tasks is the entire reason you’re here.

ALETHEIA LUNA: “Shadow Selves: What Kind Of Monster Are You?”

inner-monster

“Beneath the social mask we wear every day, we have a hidden shadow side: an impulsive, wounded, sad, or isolated part that we generally try to ignore.  The Shadow can be a source of emotional richness and vitality, and acknowledging it can be a pathway to healing and an authentic life.”

~Connie Zwieg and Steve Wolf

In order to live authentic, mindful and whole lives we need to become conscious of the nature and even personality of our Shadow Selves, our Monsters.  In order to repair, heal, move on, and progress in our life journeys we need to acquaint ourselves with our darker sides.  In order to develop the Self-Awareness and understanding that allows us to foster Self-Acceptance and love for ourselves we need to acknowledge and embrace our Shadow Selves.

This article aims to do just that: to increase your level of Self-Awareness, and to encourage you to explore what type of Monster you have inside.

13 Types of Shadow Selves

Our Monsters come in many different shapes and different varieties.  While some are more ferocious than others, others don’t really seem to be all that monstrous at all – that’s until we reap the devilish consequences in our lives.  Below I have categorized a variety of 13 different Shadow Selves.  Some overlap with each other, and many are interconnected, meaning that it’s not uncommon to possess more than 1 or 2 different Monsters.

1.  The Egotistical Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: arrogance, egocentricity, pompousness, inconsiderateness, self-indulgence, narcissism, excessive pride.

2.  The Neurotic Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: paranoia, obsessiveness, suspiciousness, finicky, demanding, compulsive behavior.

3.  The Untrustworthy Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: secretive, impulsive, frivolous, irresponsible, deceitful, unreliable.

4.  The Emotionally Unstable Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: moody, melodramatic, weepy, overemotional, impulsive, changeable.

5.  The Controlling Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: suspicious, jealous, possessive, bossy, obsessive.

6.  The Cynical Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: negative, overcritical, patronizing, resentful, cantankerous.

7.  The Wrathful Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: ruthless, vengeful, bitchy, quick-tempered, quarrelsome.

8.  The Rigid Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: uptight, intolerant, obstinate, uncompromising, inflexible, narrow-minded.

9.  The Glib Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: superficial, cunning, inconsistent, sly, crafty.

10.  The Nonchalant Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: emotionally detached, distant, indifferent, uncaring, unexcited.

11.  The Highly-Strung Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: touchy, nervous, reactive, tense, overemotional, hypersensitive.

12.  The Cowardly Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: weak-willed, passive, timid, fearful.

13.  The Featherbrained Monster

This person displays the following characteristics: puerile, childish, immature, illogical, simpleminded, vacuous.

Facing Our Monsters

How can we face our Monsters, our Shadow Selves?  How can we hope to create more harmony in our lives?  The answer: by consciously choosing to work with our souls.  This could include:

  • Spending time in contemplative introspection, e.g. asking the question “what are my greatest Monsters?”
  • Developing more Self-Awareness(this allows you to become more conscious of your words, thoughts, feelings and behaviors, thus allowing you to identify your faults more easily).
  • Asking friends, partners or loved ones what they feel are your greatest personality faults.
  • Ensuring that you adopt an analytical but compassionate attitude towards yourself, rather than playing the role of the prosecutor, judge, or defender which hinders your ability to embrace your Shadow Self fully.

The secret is out: all of us, no exceptions, have qualities we won’t let anyone see, including ourselves – our Shadow. If we face up to our dark side, our life can be energized. If not, there is the devil to pay. This is one of life’s most urgent projects.

MATEO SOL: “Authenticity: Finding Your Soul Within the Dreams of Reality”

authenticity (11).jpg

“Be yourself.”

This is the sage old advice your Mother and friends have given you countless times. But why is it so hard to apply to your life? Why is it so hard to “be yourself”?

Perhaps it’s because you don’t know who you really are.

As a teacher of soulwork the first obstacle I see fellow travelers come across trying to find their path in life, is the realization that they don’t know who they are.

They fail to listen to their inner souls, and instead create mental ideas (dreams) of what they should be like and begin to doubt themselves whether they are living up to them.   Afterwards they seek comforting validation by asking me questions like: “Is this what Spiritual People do?”,  “If I can’t do ____ does that mean I’m not an Introvert?”, and “Do all Old Souls like ___ and _____ ?”

In this article I want to explore our lost authenticity and how we can learn to find our genuine selves by learning to love ourselves.

A Child’s Authenticity

Watching children play and hearing their genuine laughter is one of the greatest beauties in life.

We were all born as children filled with life, a sense of wonder, and the desires to explore or create and live in the moment.  Children have no past baggage or future anxieties so they express what they feel and aren’t afraid to love unconditionally.

After the age of 3, however, children start to become more tamed.  This happens to all of us.  Something changes within us and we begin to lose that wonder, that innocence of childhood.  Our thoughts become more dominant putting our authentic feelings in the background.  Slowly we begin to focus more on these thoughts, and in doing so, we begin to accumulate past baggage and future anxieties.

The Birth of Dreams

This process of losing your authenticity and replacing it with thoughts in the form of fears, shameful memories, rules, social values and beliefs is known as domestication.

Our domestication can turn into a disease if our parents do not have the awareness and wisdom of what they are passing on.  Just like pets, we are domesticated with an emotional reward or punishment system.  If our behavior is desirable we are rewarded with attention and affection.  If our behavior is not acceptable we are punished by the rejection of our parents or peers.

As children we didn’t care about people’s opinions or judgments, we lived in the present and our self-worth came from our authenticity.  Now, however, our thoughts are more predominant.  With thoughts come fears, and suddenly our need to be accepted grows.  Our self-worth is now put into the hands of other people and their opinions of us.

This new self-worth system forces us to change.  It forces us to create a false image of ourselves, a dream.  Slowly we begin to notice that different people expect different things from us; our parents, our teachers, our friends, our priests, our bosses, our siblings, our lovers, and so we are split up into dozens of different versions of ourselvesWe become so good at living up to these different images of ourselves that we forget who we really are.

When your self-worth comes from your false image instead of your authenticity you constantly feel off-center, anxious and incomplete.  Deep down your unconscious knows this image of yourself isn’t true, deep down you know that you’re pretending.  The danger is for example, that if your false image is that of being a “smart and witty person”, you are prone to having your self-worth shattered publicly if someone outsmarts you.  This is when we learn to hate ourselves.

With a shaky sense of self-worth comes insecurity problems.  Insecurities are formed when you expect to externally live up to an image you envision for yourself, but deep down you know the internal image of yourself is different.  The greater the discrepancy between these two images, the more insecure you will feel.

This false image is what in psychological terms is known as your “ego“.  It is responsible for that need to always be “right”.  We need to feel right and prove that others are wrong because we want to protect this false image we project to the outside world, to feel reassured that we aren’t lying to ourselves.

This need to be “right” is what gives birth to that constant struggle for perfection, and the approval of others.  We suffer so much and try so hard to be important, successful, rich, famous, powerful, and we do this by forcing our dream, our false illusion, to be real and more valid than other people’s dreams.

This suffering we undergo in order to be perfect is essentially to please other people.  It is a lie we fool ourselves into believing that we should be a certain way in order to acknowledge that we are good, in order to accept ourselves.  I have previously explained that perfection doesn’t exist.  You are never going to be good enough, healthy enough, smart enough or pretty enough because you are chasing an ideal that is a false illusion, a dream.

Wake Up to Your Authentic Self

Can you imagine the chaos that trying to find love and approval outside of ourselves creates in the world?  You don’t have to, just look around you.

We search for love outside, but love is already around us and within us everywhere.  We are so afraid to love and accept because we are so afraid of getting rejected.  But until we learn to love ourselves, we will never be able to truly love anybody else.

How do we stop rejecting ourselves?  How do we stop being self-destructive?  We have to stop pretending to be something we are not and find our authenticity again.

These are some practical suggestions that I have experienced myself, and witnessed, to work quite well:

1.  Truth

To find your authenticity again you are going to need one key ingredient: truthfulness.  Being truthful with yourself will teach you how to trust in yourself.

The desire to be honest with yourself with help you reveal what is real in yourself and what is a lie that you have either inherited from your domestication (beliefs, values, ambitions), or unconsciously created as a defense mechanism to protect your false image’s self-worth.  “Do spiritual people do this?  Do introverts do that?”   This is your mind finding a label to try to live up to with a false image.  Never aspire to live up to a label, labels are symbols to guide your attention to further exploration.

2.  Forgiveness

You can be your own worst enemy.  One of the first steps in finding your authentic self is to stop judging yourself, and whether or not you’re living up to the false “perfection” standards and expectations you have set for yourself.  The easiest way to overcome self-judgement is to learn how to forgive yourself.

Say for example you eat a pizza and feel guilty afterwards because your false image feels “fat”.  Afterwards your mind will go around in circles repeating to yourself how fat you are, making you anxious and creating the urge to soothe yourself with more food.  It becomes a vicious circle.  Your body has needs and once they’re satisfied it becomes quiet.  But your mind is not as simple; it unconsciously gives you its own needs for emotional comfort.  Your conscious attention locks itself in a repetitive loop (self-judging thoughts) and doesn’t let go.  Learning to forgive yourself allows you to take away the conscious attention from your mind and become more in-tune with your body and emotional needs.

3.  Self-Love

Loving yourself is not selfish, in fact, it’s the only way we can bring about any positive change.  We can never be happy unless we learn to love ourselves unconditionally.

To love yourself is to respect yourself, to treat your body like a temple (e.g. eating a healthy diet, cleanliness and exercise), as well as respecting your emotional and psychological health by avoiding the accumulation of emotional poison (e.g. grudges, hate, impatience).

4.  Aloneness

I can never stress this enough: make time for solitude.  It is in solitude that we create the space for authenticity.  It is in solitude that we become aware of our domestication, realizing what we are truly like in our own company when we aren’t putting on a false image for other people.

Authenticity will teach you to see the world as it is, not as you believe it to be.  You are the manifestation of Kawsay Pacha (the word we use for “living energy“) within a body, coming through your soul.  As you become more authentic you’ll begin to understand this; not with logic and your social personality, but by feeling it at the root of core, your very essence.

How do you connect to your authenticity?
